Apprenticeship Program

Dear Sisters in Dance,

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Apprenticeship Program, let me take a moment to tell you more about it. Over the years as a teacher, I've gotten many requests for specialized private lessons and intensives. Most of the students who contacted me identified a need for an intensive and individualized course of belly dance study. Students seemed to be looking for
a method that would support the creation of personalized and specific dance goals, and allow for integration of physical, technical, mental, emotional and spiritual learning techniques.

In addition, students also made clear that it would be helpful to have a flexible learning schedule to accommodate all the women who couldn't necessarily commit to classes on a weekly basis, particularly students from
other states and countries.

All these requests have started me thinking about creating some new ways of sharing/teaching the dance. It's out of this on-going dialogue with students, past and present, that the apprenticeship program was born.

In Dance and Sisterhood,
Lorraine

"Lorraine helps her students use belly dance as a means of transforming their bodies and themselves. She has a way of helping students discover what is special and unique about them as dancers." - A.S.
